TWO COLLABORATIVE EVENTS WITH EESOC OF UOM AND EIES OF UOR

Intending to proliferate innovative culture and creativity among the undergraduate community in Sri Lanka the organizing committee of "Undergraduate Inventor of the Year" (UIY) in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Society (EESOC) of the University of Moratuwa and the Electrical and Information Engineering Society (EIES) of the University of Ruhuna initiated the Inven~όvation, the discussion series which catered insights on fundamental and predominant areas of Engineering Industry and its connectivity with Innovation.
In collaboration with the EESOC of the University of Moratuwa, the IESL-UIY team commenced the second episode of this discussion series on the 30th of April 2021 from 6.00 PM onwards via zoom, on “Engineering Projects including designing, planning, executing and commissioning”, with Eng. Dasun Arandarage, Business Unit Manager in DIMO as the keynote speaker of the session. Remarking to a participation count of 120 undergraduates across the country the session concluded successfully.
The third episode of the discussion series was undertaken by the IESL-UIY in collaboration with the EIES of the University of Ruhuna on the 2nd of May 2021, from 7.30 PM onwards, which catered to the undergraduate community as a virtual round table discussion via zoom with the presence of Eng. Bhasura Liyanage, Electrical Engineer in the Transmission Design Unit of CEB, and Eng. Ms. Zahara Marzook Electrical Engineer Substation Constructions and Maintenance of CEB as keynote speakers for the session.
The discussions undoubtedly contributed to the creative and innovative thinking process of the undergraduate community across the island succeeding in the aspiration of Inven~όvation.
JIY GUIDELINES FOR THE YEAR 2021
TRI-LANGUAGE BOOK OF GUIDELINES IS NOW UNDER REVIEWING STAGE
Advancing from furnishing the book of guidelines in individual documents for English and Sinhala languages as in previous years, this year’s JIY committee aspires to dispense a single document containing guidelines in all three languages, English, Sinhala, and Tamil as a Tri-Language book of guidelines for the year 2021 which fulfills the government policies accordingly.
Although the process carries a significant resemblance from previous year's documentation, due to the prevailing situation of COVID-19 this year, the JIY team has proposed to introduce a fully digitalized platform to collect registrations and applications from students across the country.
To device a cogent Public Relations scheme, the team is engaged in the process of creating flyers and awareness videos to be aired to the public parallel to the official launching of the competition. For a better outcome, the JIY team proposed to appoint representatives for each District and Schools intending to develop a well-grounded communication and coordination for registration and application processes evenly.
